To get your SAPS Firearm Licence - SAPS Firearm Licence Application

To renew your SAPS Firearm Licence - SAPS Firearm Licence Renewal Application

To get both your SAPS Firearm Competency and Firearm Licence - SAPS Firearm Competency and Licence Application Combo

Once we have received your personal information and supporting documents our admin team usually takes between 3 and 5 business days to prepare your complete SAPS Licence or Competency document pack which will be emailed to you to print and hand in to your local SAPS DFO.

Once you have submitted your application pack to SAPS, they have a maximum of 120 BUSINESS DAYS in order to process your application.

Generally speaking, we advise customers to prepare for 3 - 4 months for their competency application and 3 - 4 months for their licence application.

All of your personal information and supporting documents are collected through two secure online submission forms. The first is used to collect all of your personal information so that we can complete the required SAPS paperwork and forms to accompany your application, the second is used to collect all of the required supporting documents.

The required forms and fields are mandated so that we can ensure your application is complete and meets and exceeds all of the requirements mandated by SAPS so that we can ensure a smooth application process for you.

If you are needing to renew or apply for multiple firearm licences or competency certificates, drop us an email: admin@licenceme.co.za or use our Whatsapp Business chat support to discuss bulk discounts with our team.

Fear not, we keep a digital copy of your application safely and securely on our servers. This means if you lose your application or any of the supporting documents our team can easily retrieve them for you. It also means that in 5 or 10 years (depending on your licence type) your licence renewal process will be SUPER easy if you are making use of our services again.

When submitting at SAPS, ensure that you get a receipt proving that you have paid the relevant amounts as this also proves that you have handed in your application.

Where possible, try and get a completed SAPS 523 form from your DFO – it’s not always possible as this is only available once they have data captured your form, but it's worth asking.

Contact your DFO one month after submission date to hear if the licence has been approved – thereafter do it twice weekly.

If you want to get further information on the application you might try calling 012-353-6111 (CFR’s helpline – they respond well early evening)

NHSA Members needing further advice or help are welcome to contact the NHSA Firearms Licensing Helpline & Endorsements (choose option 4 after calling the main number - 087-945-3355 – during office hours)
